I tried disabling the game's V-Sync and enabling my GPU's driver V-Sync, which did help improve performance a fair bit. The rooms it happens in are totally random. (I can walk backwards through the room and FPS is still 60.). There's even a rarer bug that occurs every now and then where looking in a specific direction, within a specific room that is chosen at random when the bug occurs, will cause my FPS to drop to a horrific 5 FPS and the game is unplayable when looking that direction into that one room.
Running the game from a fresh boot I will have a solid 60 FPS, but it slowly depletes over time and I eventually have to restart the game by at least going back to the main menu (reloading a save doesn't work on it's own), unless I want to deal with 40 FPS or less. Now with the last couple of months of updates my performance only gets worse and worse with each one, and my performance now chokes off the longer I play. I had a perfect 60 FPS everywhere I went with only the exception of the top of Corvega. I ran the game with perfect performance, no matter how long I played, for many months after launch.
